What's new this week

This section summarizes what was released this week.

Fast lane GA features

These features are generally available for all customers. Slow lane customers and tenants will have these features automatically enabled on 2026-10-28.

  • design system: The Stellar design system is now generally available, applying Snowflake theming, the Inter typeface, redesigned toast notifications, and refreshed empty-state illustrations across the entire product. Delivers a consistent visual identity that aligns Observe with the broader Snowflake design language.
  • monitors: The Monitor V2 list and stats REST APIs (GET /v1/monitors, GET /v1/monitors/stats) are now generally available, including the versioned paginated response shape (Observe-Api-Version: 2026-08-04) with CEL filtering, pagination, ordering, and expansion. Enables programmatic monitor management at scale without relying on the web console or GraphQL.
  • documentation: In-app documentation search is now powered by Cortex Search, replacing the legacy HelpIndex backend with vector-based retrieval. Returns more relevant, context-aware results for OPAL syntax, product concepts, and troubleshooting queries.

Slow lane GA features

These features are enabled for all slow lane customers and tenants today. Fast-lane GA was 2026-09-02.

  • AI-SRE: AI-assisted monitor creation now runs on the more capable Page mode AI, improving the quality and conversational flow of AI-guided monitor setup.
  • monitors: Monitor create and edit forms now include an optional missing-data alert expiration override, letting teams set a custom duration for how long a missing-data alert stays active before it auto-expires.
  • dashboards: The pivot menu can now set parameters on the current dashboard directly, applying parameter values without requiring a separate manual edit.

Public preview and private preview features

features are available by invitation only. features are available by inquiry.

  • monitors: Seasonal anomaly detection monitors are now available in private preview for selected customers, enabling monitors to learn and account for recurring time-based patterns (e.g. daily or weekly traffic cycles) when evaluating alert thresholds.
  • reference tables: Inline row editing for reference tables is expanding to additional private preview customers.
  • dashboards: Improved dashboard editing mode with expanded card views and streamlined layout controls is expanding to additional private preview customers.

Bug fixes

The following issues are fixed in this week's release:

  • dashboards: Fixed the "All values" option not appearing for multiselect dashboard parameters. (OB-66860)
  • monitors: Monitor V2 facet filters are now preserved after sorting the monitor list. (OB-67323)
  • monitors: "Only my monitors" count now derives from the stats API, fixing incorrect counts when filters were applied. (OB-67252)
  • AI-SRE: AI-SRE auto-triage now skips muted alerts, preventing unnecessary investigation of suppressed conditions.
  • AI-SRE: AI-SRE now requires chat permission before initiating auto-triage, preventing unauthorized investigation attempts. (OB-66958)
  • AI-SRE: AI-SRE investigation rate limits are now tighter, reducing unnecessary concurrent investigations. (OB-67004)
  • AI-SRE: Fixed saved dashboard links from AI-SRE chat opening on the wrong origin. (OB-66733)
  • input picker: Ranked-search query is now preserved after the picker is dismissed. (OB-67274)
  • input picker: Fixed Log Explorer Events preference leaking into input-type switches. (OB-67714)
  • input picker: Selection is now preserved when the type switch is dismissed. (OB-67271)
  • OPAL: Fixed boolean function calls not being recognized in OPAL expressions. (OB-67028)
  • OPAL autocomplete: Fields are now restored correctly after connectives in OPAL autocomplete. (OB-67110)
  • OPAL autocomplete: Duration values now appear in autocomplete suggestions. (OB-67119)
  • chart editor: Fixed resource-tag key casing being lost when editing chart configurations. (OB-67343)
  • support: Read-only users can now upload file attachments in the in-app support panel. (OB-67226)
  • AI-SRE: APM service queries now scale their timeout by lookback window size, and service expansion is limited to RED series only, reducing timeouts on large environments. (OB-66180)
  • security: Multiple credential-redaction fixes across ingest endpoint logs, delegated-login logs, SCIM PUT bodies, help and inference tokens, bearer authentication failures, invitation tokens, API keys, JWT tokens, email bodies, access keys, passwords, and configuration values. (OB-66762, OB-67137, OB-66371, OB-66398, OB-66378, OB-67139, OB-67138, OB-67129, OB-67128, OB-67127, OB-66389, OB-66385, OB-66388, OB-66391, OB-66395, OB-66394, OB-66372, OB-65660, OB-65648, OB-67302, OB-66363, OB-63659, OB-67220)

APM Tracing Content Rollout

The following APM content changes roll out to customer tenants in this cycle.

Non-breaking changes

  • Tracing/Deployment reverts to one session per (environment, service_name, service_namespace, service_version), dropping the k8s.cluster.uid group key added in 2.5.0. Services with no cluster UID are unaffected.
  • Tracing/Span now keeps zero-duration OTel spans by flooring equal end_time to start_time + 1ns and setting duration to 1ns, so they survive Observe's half-open interval gate.
  • New correlation tags are added to tracing content datasets: deployment.environment.name on Span Events (alongside the legacy deployment.environment mapping), status.code on Tracing/Span and Service Metrics, and service.namespace on Span Events.
  • Tracing/Deployment now groups by k8s.cluster.uid, reporting one deployment per Kubernetes cluster instead of a single merged session across clusters.
  • Service Edge Metrics input migrates from Service Explorer Spans to Canonical Trace for all customers, with edges scaled by canonical-trace sampling and tagged with parent.span.name and parent.span.type.
  • Service Metrics restructures to a single service_type column (Service, Database, Message Broker, External) replacing the independent is_database and is_message_broker booleans. The endpoint histogram grain narrows to one row per endpoint per time bucket.
  • Advance notice: The ModelMessageBrokerEntities flag will be flipped on by default in the next scheduled breaking upgrade, modeling message brokers as first-class entities across Service Explorer.

Breaking changes flipping this week

None — no feature flag flips affect a majority of in-window customers.

Coming soon

The following GA features are already available for fast lane customers, and will be enabled for slow lane customers and tenants in a future release.

  • monitors: Monitor V2 notification templates now support format-time template helpers, enabling richer and more readable timestamp formatting in alert notifications.
