What's new this week
This section summarizes what was released this week.
Fast lane GA features
These features are generally available for all customers. Slow lane customers and tenants will have these features automatically enabled on November 11, 2026.
- apm: Service Explorer now differentiates Service, Database, and Message Broker node types across the catalog, health, alerts, and monitor APIs. The service catalog accepts a
serviceTypefilter, and alerts resolve which kind of service triggered them. Engineers can filter the catalog to see only databases or only message brokers and quickly identify which service type is behind alert noise. - monitors: Individual webhook notification headers can now be marked as redacted. Marked headers read back as
***REDACTED***, keeping API keys and bearer tokens hidden from other users who view or test an action configuration. Test-alert payloads fill the masked value so the webhook destination still receives the real header. - ai-sre: The Ask User Question panel is now compact and can be minimized, keeping the chat viewport clear while waiting for a user decision during an investigation.
- ai-sre: Oversized chat image uploads are now downscaled instead of rejected, so screenshots and diagrams of any size can be shared with the investigation agent.
- input-picker: The redesigned input picker is now generally available for fast-lane customers. The new picker provides a unified search experience across Datasets, resources, and scopes with improved navigation, keyboard support, and contextual suggestions. Slow-lane customers retain the current picker until a later promotion.
Slow lane GA features
These features are enabled for all slow lane customers and tenants today. Fast-lane GA was 2026-09-16.
- visualization: Vega pie charts are now available for all customers.
- navigation: The new URL structure is now active for all customers, providing shorter and more human-readable page addresses throughout the product.
- ai-sre: The AI-SRE help bot's Cortex-powered documentation retrieval is now available for all customers, including slow-lane tenants. Fast-lane GA was 2026-10-08 (accelerated from the standard four-week window to expedite the removal of the legacy HelpIndex corpus).
Public preview and private preview features
features are available by invitation only. features are available by inquiry.
- explorer: Pivot mode experience and the OPAL filter bar are available in private preview for selected customers. Pivot mode enhances pivots from correlatioin tags and resources to explorers, while the OPAL filter bar lets users build structured filters with autocomplete, and/or logic, and chip-based editing directly above the results table.
Bug fixes
The following issues are fixed in this week's release:
- dashboard-report: Dashboard PDF exports now use the navigation logo in report headers. (OB-68811)
- explorer: Facet value selections no longer reset when the side rail stats panel reloads. (OB-68679)
- dashboard: Cards dropped into a collapsed section are no longer duplicated. (OB-67422)
- dashboard: Export as PDF stays enabled after collapsing a section.
- dashboard: Expanded v2 parameter values render correctly. (OB-68467)
- ai-sre: Chart images from query cards can now be copied to clipboard. (OB-68802)
- monitoring: The AI-SRE identity is preserved when enabling and disabling investigation mode on a monitor. (OB-68558)
- filterbar: Arrow-right navigation exits the chip at the end of a filter clause. (OB-68677)
- filter-condition: Autocomplete suggestions refresh as new stats arrive. (OB-68741)
- alerts: CEL list-membership filters now match the column type correctly.
- visualization: Synchronized hover rules across charts are restored. (OB-68466)
- trace-explorer: Trace Explorer defaults to service entry point spans. (OB-68462)
- input-picker: Clearing a resource-scope chip now resets the scope correctly. (OB-68824)
- service-explorer: Database and broker nodes are now colored by health status in the service map. (OB-64708)
- webapp: Operators rank above top-value suggestions in search. (OB-68637)
- ingest: Stale Snowpipe Streaming channels are now cleaned up regardless of the flag state, preventing channel accumulation from blocking throughput scaling during traffic bursts. (OB-68726)
APM Tracing Content Rollout (Week of 2026-10-12)
Latest in source: 2.5.5
Reference version (most-deployed): 1.51.0
Non-breaking changes rolling out this week
- Investigation-oriented descriptions added to tracing source and APM content datasets, giving engineers more context when inspecting dataset metadata.
- Tracing/Deployment reverted to one session per (environment, service_name, service_namespace, service_version), dropping the k8s.cluster.uid group key added in 2.5.0 and registering correlation tags on the remaining SES keys.
- Zero-duration OTel spans preserved — spans with equal start and end times are now floored to 1ns instead of being dropped by Observe's half-open interval gate.
- Correlation tags expanded —
deployment.environment.nameon Span Events (newer OTel semconv),status.codeon Span, Service Metrics, and Metrics/OpenTelemetry, andservice.namespaceon Span Events. - Tracing/Deployment grouped by k8s.cluster.uid — the same service version deployed to multiple Kubernetes clusters now reports as one deployment per cluster.
- Service Edge Metrics migrated from Service Explorer Spans to Canonical Trace input, enabled for all customers. Service Metrics restructured so a single
service_typecolumn (Service, Database, Message Broker, External) replaces the independentis_databaseandis_message_brokerbooleans. - Advance notice:
ModelMessageBrokerEntitieswill be flipped on by default in the next scheduled breaking upgrade, modeling message brokers as first-class entities across Service Explorer. - Automated content upgrades enabled for fast-lane customers.
ProduceExternalCallsandUseExternalCallMetricsDatasetare scheduled to flip on in the next breaking upgrade window, bringing uninstrumented service detection and the External Call Metrics dataset to fast-lane customers automatically. Slow-lane customers remain paused.
Breaking changes flipping this week
None — no feature flag flips affect a majority of in-window customers.
