Datadog provides open source tracing libraries for different runtimes. Each library offloads traces to a running instance of the Datadog agent, which in turn batches and uploads the data to Datadog.

Observe provides limited support for ingesting traces directly from a ddtrace compatible tracing client. In particular, Observe does not plan on providing support for dynamic sampling, which was added in v0.4 of the datadog-agent trace API.
