Can I change the name of an Observe Instance?

The default Observe instance name format is ${OBSERVE_CUSTOMER_ID}.${OBSERVE_DOMAIN} for login, or ${OBSERVE_CUSTOMER_ID}.collect.${OBSERVE_DOMAIN} for data ingest. For instance, you might configure agents to send data to https://123456789012.collect.observeinc.com/v1/http and then use a browser at https://123456789012.collect.observeinc.com to work with that data.

Your Observe Data Engineer can help you to add a friendly stem name as an optional substitute for ${OBSERVE_CUSTOMER_ID}. The stem name can be used for data collection, app interface, and logging in. Friendly stem names do not replace the customer ID based URL, which will continue to work for ingest or login.
