Query history

A cached query history is available on the Log Explorer page, as well as the Resource, Trace, and Metric Explorers. On these pages, any completed queries are cached on a per-user basis.

  • Only queries with non-empty pipelines or non-relative time ranges are cached.

  • If you repeat the same query multiple times in the same session, only one instance of that query is recorded in the history.

  • If auto-run is off, changes to the query are not recorded unless the query is run to completion.

To access the query history from an Explorer, click Query history in the Explorer’s header. For example, from the Log Explorer:

The query history shows you the saved queries from the past day, week, or month depending on the number of queries saved and when they were saved:

You can perform the following tasks in the query history:

  • Search your query history to find a specific query based on any inputs that are used, the expression builder description (if present), and the pipeline.

  • Click Run query to will apply that query to the Explorer, carrying over visualization settings, time range, and expression builder / OPAL state.
