Reference tables

Observe by Snowflake accepts many kinds of data beyond logs, metrics, and traces. You can upload business data, such as customer, product, employee, or IP-address lists, as reference tables and use it to enrich telemetry.

Resource Datasets model entities whose state changes over time, such as EC2 hosts. Because resource state is temporal, it must be observed periodically or it eventually expires. Reference tables instead store non-temporal, keyed data that remains available until it is updated or deleted, making them well suited to long-lived mappings such as product-to-owner, employee-to-team, or account-to-engineer.
