Observe by Snowflake supports flexibly pivoting between data types such as logs, metrics, and traces based on shared links to resources and Correlation tags. To learn more about resources, read about Resource Datasets.

A pivot menu is available either on selection of a cell in a table or selection on a visualization. Below, you can see the pivot menu appearing after selection of a cell in a table:

This pivot menu makes it easier for you to discover pivots to related logs, metrics, traces and dashboards via a linked resource or a correlation tag, by prioritizing the display of these pivot destinations.

Columns which are linked to resources or correlation tags are represented with a grey underline.

You can pivot between data types such as logs, metrics, and traces based on shared links to resources and correlation tags.

Correlation tags are a flexible way to link data in Observe by Snowflake to support pivoting, or correlating, data. See Correlation tags.
Resources are rows within Resource Datasets, which are specific types of datasets that maintain state over time.

A pivot menu is available either on selection of a cell in a table or selection on a visualization. In this example, we are looking at the Kubernetes Logs in the Log Explorer. The underlying Dataset contains multiple correlation tags. You can tell a column has correlation tags associated with it because the values in the column cells are underlined.

Click the caret icon () in any cell with an underlined value to view the pivot menu:

We can select Logs from the pivot menu to view only the logs with the same context as the value in the cell. In this case, we expect to see k8s.observeinc.com as the only cluster, along with its associated correlation tags:

Click the label next to the Filter bar to view the correlation tags:

You can see which correlation tag was used for the pivot, along with other related correlation tags:

Field	Description
Pivot performed on	The correlation tag used for the pivot. In this case, it's #k8s.cluster.name. If there are other correlation tags mapped to the same column, they are also listed under Pivot performed on.
Additional context	The Additional context tags are other correlation tags with a value on the same row you pivoted from.
